Regulatory Standards

Since the 90’s, Brazil has been undergoing a restructuring process in order to develop in a globalized economy world. The model adopted by the country to expand its infrastructure includes the participation of private capital, but to attract and maintain domestic and foreign investments it needs to ensure the proper regulatory environment and count on independent and impartial regulatory agencies. In this context, Amcham-Brasil works to support regulatory agencies and facilitate their discussions with the private initiative.

An essential part of this effort, which has been carried out since 2003, is the development of evaluation reports of the agencies by the regulated agents. Currently they include Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica - Aneel (The National Electric Energy Agency), Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações - Anatel (The National Telecommunications Agency), The Sistema Brasileiro de Defesa da Concorrência - SBDC (Brazilian Compettion Defense System) and Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária - Anvisa (The National Health Surveillance Agency).

The Regulatory Standards Task Force is composed of executives from several company sectors, such as energy, telecommunications, health and food, cosmectics and cleaning products, in addition to law offices, consulting companies and class associations. It is divided into subgroups: Anatel, Aneel, Anvisa and SBDC.
